Darren of Pen Cerrig-calch, Crickhowell 2023

Taken from Table Mountain across to a Darren of Pen Cerrig-calch. Below, the River Usk and the charming town of Crickhowell.

The Table Mountain walk is a rewarding one with stunning and dramatic views. There are some short, sharp ascents and descents, but nothing too taxing, especially as Table Mountain is a good few hundred meters under being an actual mountain – the name just comes from the locals.

The Darren photographed here is a prominent feature of the route, being both beautiful and dramatic. The weather that day was changeable, to say the least. Here, you can see the sunlight breaking through the rain clouds above to cast light across the valley slopes. This is a reliable place for catching a good look at wild ponies, too.
